A rainy week ahead for the Twin Cities

With 2 different storm systems moving through the Upper Midwest this week, plenty of rain will be falling across much of the area. Moderate drought conditions cover 93% of the state at this point, but some relief is already here and more is coming. Much of the state is 2 to 4 inches of liquid below average just since January 1st, but it looks like at least part of the state could be making up half of that just this week alone. While forecasting rainfall for the next several days can be a shot in the dark, the potential is there for some very beneficial totals. Here is what we are leaning toward right now…

Including Monday's rain, much of central and southern Minnesota could wind up with a widespread 1 to 2 inches. There could even be locally a little more than that, especially up and down the I-94 corridor from the metro through much of Wisconsin. Now remember, these are just preliminary estimates and actual totals could shift in any direction, but this should give you the impression that some decent rainfall is likely heading through our workweek. Umbrellas up!!
