54-year-old hit in the head with a hammer in St. Cloud

A 54-year-old man was hit in the head with a hammer by an "acquaintance" and sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the assault, St. Cloud police said.

At 2:38 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 500 block of Highway 10 South in St. Cloud and said 52-year-old Samvang Sam Phrachansiry had hit the unidentified victim with a hammer and returned home on foot. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Benton County Jail for second-degree murder and terroristic threats.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
