Minneapolis Police Sgt. Jesse Garcia, a longtime public information officer and familiar face in the community, has passed away, sources confirmed to Fox 9. He had been battling Stage 4 stomach cancer at age 49.
Friends and family recently gathered on July 23 for a benefit bike ride in his honor in St. Paul. Bike Cops for Kids, an organization near and dear to his heart, also organized a bike ride at South High School in his memory Thursday morning.
"Bike ride with the Chief today, come to South High School at 0930hrs and join us. South side to North side, we have a great route picked out. Something tells me JGARlll will be with us??," the group's Facebook page reads.
