Wisconsin Dells Catapult ride cable snaps with 2 set to launch

The Catapult ride at Mount Olympus in Wisconsin Dells was shut down Thursday after a cable snapped with 2 riders waiting to launch.

Family friends Carrie Sueker and Trevor Larson stopped at the Dells during a trip from southwestern Minnesota to Eau Claire, Wis. for a basketball tournament. About 50 seconds after they were buckled into the Catapult ride, the two bungee cords connected to one side of the chair snapped with enough force to leave a divot in the asphalt.

No injuries were reported and the ride was closed for inspection. The families were reimbursed for their stay at the hotel and the cost of the ride tickets.
