Torii Hunter hits home run off the field

Torii Hunter and the Minnesota Twins, with a generous donation from Sports Authority, helped put shoes on the feet of dozens of kids from Mary's Place in Minneapolis.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

The Minnesota Twins and Sports Authority teamed up Saturday morning to host a shoe donation for the homeless youth in the Twin Cities.

Torii Hunter, along with other Twins players, invited children from Mary's Place to Target Field. Mary's Place is a support program for homeless families in the Twin Cities that provides them with a place to stay until they can get back on their feet.

"I definitely think by us doing this great deed today, these kids will never forget it," Hunter said. "When they get older, hopefully they will be able to do the same."

"It's pretty cool that these kids are smiling, and having a good time and getting out of their environment," he continued.

Sports Authority donated all the shoes for the children living in Mary's Place and Torii, along with other Twins players, helped hand the shoes out.
