The Minnesota Military Family Tribute is the newest addition to the 18-acre green space that also includes memorials and other art pieces to remember the work and achievements of Minnesotans.
On Thursday, the Tribute's final elements were complete, a public dedication ceremony slated for Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m.
The final piece, the Gold Star Table, was lifted into place at 1 p.m., at the west end of the promenade.
The Gold Star Table recognizes the supreme sacrifice of our Gold Star families, those that have lost a loved one in while in service to their countries military. The space features a sculpted table representing many narratives. It recalls the tables that we gather at as a family to share dinner, stories, and laughter. It is a place of gathering, reflection and recreating memories.
Two other elements that honor military and veteran families include the "Thank You Military and Veteran Family Walkway" and "Story Stones" to recognize Minnesota's 87 counties.
