Dad, daughter hurt by lightning strike in northern Minnesota

A man and his 4-year-old daughter were struck by lightning Sunday afternoon in northern Minnesota, both are currently recovering at a Duluth hospital.

The 51-year-old from Virginia, Minn. and his daughter were at a recreational facility in Cherry Township in St. Louis County when lightning struck. A bystander administered CPR to the man on-scene, and he was listed in critical condition at last check. His daughter's injuries are believed to be less severe.

The girl was taken by ambulance to a Duluth hospital, and her father was initially taken to a hospital in Hibbing before being transferred to the Duluth hospital.

The National Weather Service said thunderstorms appeared, some without warning, throughout the day on Sunday.
