Aside from being insulted and humiliated, Stephen Wright had his window broken, gasoline poured on to his seats and some items stolen from the car. Now, he's trying to explain to his children what all this
On Sunday morning, he found the n-word spray painted on his car, right outside his townhouse on the 2100 block of Cedar Pass in Eagan.
"They don't realize how hurtful it is, when they do something like this," he said.
Someone also broke a passenger side window, poured gasoline on the seats, and stole a stereo faceplate along with the car's title. Investigators recovered what appeared to be a crow bar, but otherwise, said there are no leads and the complex doesn't have any surveillance cameras.
For now, Wright is mainly concerned about his wife and kids and will try to help them process the hate messages.
"My 2-year-old, I just go into protection mode for him," he said. "It makes you feel like I've come so far, but yet, I'm still not where I think I should be."
A smiley face was also spray painted on the trunk. Police said whoever did this will face theft, vandalism, and hate crime charges.
