An officer-involved shooting in Eden Prairie, Minn. remains under investigation, and Hennepin County sheriff's officials said there was a report the officer's weapon fired accidentally.The Eden Prairie officer fired shots at the motorcyclist, 22-year-old Matthew Raymond Hovland-Knase, early Saturday morning during a chase on city roads around 3 a.m. Saturday. The officer initiated what police called a pursuit of a fleeing motorcyclist on Eden Prairie Road. The pursuit ended when the officer fired his weapon at South Lund Road.
"There was a report that the weapon fired accidentally. The Sheriff's Office will investigate that as part of the case," Hennepin County communications director Lisa Kiava confirmed in an email to Fox 9.
Hovland-Knase sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his arm and was taken to an area hospital, but police have not confirmed whether the injury is a bullet wound or a motorcycle-related injury. He was arrested for fleeing an officer and has been booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
Police have not released the officer's identity.
