2 weekend shootings in St. Paul, Minneapolis

Police in Minneapolis and St. Paul are investigating two separate shootings over the weekend.

St. Paul homicide

A woman is dead after a Sunday morning homicide in St. Paul.

At 3:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot at a residence in the 800 block of Pierce Butler Route. Upon arrival, police found the woman and she was pronounced dead. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released her identity or the official cause of death.

The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old St. Paul man Dimitri Harrell. Police negotiated to meet and arrest him and he is currently in custody. Investigators are still piecing together the events before the victim died, including her relationship to Harrell.

Minneapolis double shooting

Meanwhile, Minneapolis police are investigating a double shooting that happened on Saturday night.

Police responded to a shots fired call around 10:15 p.m. near 26th Street and Bloomington Avenue, a few blocks away from Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Officers found two people had been shot, and adult man and someone under 18, but police said both victims will be okay.

Police have not yet released any information about the suspects.
