Police: Man on north Minneapolis roof rammed car, injured 2 deputies

Police: Man on the roof had rammed into a car with 2 deputies inside, injuring both

Police negotiated with a man atop the roof of a north Minneapolis home who wouldn't come down near Fremont Avenue North and 40th Avenue North into the evening on Wednesday. He was finally taken into custody more than 3 hours later.

Police weren't able to offer more details until the negotiation ceased, but confirmed the incident began when the man rammed into a car with two Hennepin County deputies inside, injuring both. Police said the U.S. Marshals and Hennepin County sheriff's office had multiple felony warrants out for him, and when they spotted his vehicle, he rammed theirs and took off running. The deputies suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police said he then forced his way into the home with the family inside, barricaded himself in a room, got out a window and crawled up onto the roof. Police did not say if he was armed or if he left any evidence behind.
