A bear had an eventful Wednesday in downtown Duluth.
The Duluth News Tribune reported residents first saw the bear 50 or 60 feet up a tree in the front yard of Duluth City Hall this morning, where the bear remained until about 1:40 p.m. The bear headed to Second Street behind City Hall as 5 squad cars and a Minnesota DNR conservation officer followed, lights flashing, to encourage the bear into the woods.
The bear climbed another tree at the Duluth Civic Center and had tree buds for lunch. Eventually, before 4:30 p.m., the bear climbed down and headed toward the county parking ramp.
Throughout the day, Duluth police cautioned onlookers to stay back, and the bear apparently didn't pose a threat to the public at any point.
