According to a search warrant application filed Thursday, police believe Pierre Collins' Yahoo! e-mail account could have information connected to the death of his 10-year-old son, Barway.
When he was found on April 11, Barway's feet were bound together with duct tape and a piece of tape was wrapped around his torso. Barway's body was found about 10 feet from shore, at North Mississippi Regional Park, near 53rd Avenue N. and Lyndale Avenue N. in Minneapolis. A knife was found 5 to 10 yards from where his body was recovered. He was last seen alive outside his Crystal apartment on March 18.
A different search warrant was filed for a Dell laptop discovered in the Collins apartment, which contained information about his bank account.
This search warrant says Collins' Yahoo! account could have communications with a man Barway refers to as "uncle," as heard in school transportation van surveillance video from when Barway was last seen alive.
Collins is charged with second-degree murder and was arrested April 13. He is scheduled for his next court appearance on May 14.
