186 crashes in 6 hours in Twin Cities

The Twin Cities only gathered a few inches of snow, but commuters had little visibility on the drive home, and in turn, that rush hour snow accounted for lots of crashes in a short time frame.

Lots of crashes, short time span

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were 186 crashes from 2 to 8 p.m. in Twin Cities. Of those crashes, 73 were off-road or spinout incidents, and 15 involved injuries. None were serious or fatal. State Patrol Lt. Tiffani Nielson noted there was a "very high call volume" in a short period of time after that snow hit just before rush hour.
