A 19-year-old man from Cambridge, Minnesota will appear in court Friday afternoon in connection with the deadly stabbing of a father of 5 on the St Croix River. Accompanied by his attorney, Levi Acre-Kendall surrendered to the sheriff's office in Balsam Lake, Wis. on Thursday.
Acre-Kendall, is suspected of stabbing 34-year-old Peter Kelly of St. Croix Falls, Wis. during a confrontation that followed 3 hours of arguing on the river.FIRST REPORT - Fisherman, father of 5 fatally stabbed in border battle along St. Croix River
The two vehicles involved have also been located. The other two men who were with suspect at the time of the stabbing have also been identified and were interviewed.What happenedKelly, also a beloved wrestling coach, was fatally stabbed in a literal border battle along the St. Croix River at Interstate Park on Tuesday night. The Polk County Sheriff's Department said an argument had ensued for several hours between two fishermen near the boat landing on the Minnesota side of the river and a group of 3 men on the Wisconsin side, until Peter Kelly was fatally stabbed around 9:45 p.m.
Kelly and his friend on the Minnesota side were arguing with the men on the Wisconsin side at about 6:30 p.m. Over the next several hours, "the verbal skirmish escalated" and the two left the Minnesota side of the park to confront the trio. A brief physical confrontation occurred, and Kelly was fatally stabbed. He died at the scene moments later and the trio quickly fled in two separate vehicles.
