Rochester, Minn. 'pimp' charged with sex trafficking 12-year-old

A Rochester man is charged with the sex trafficking of a 12-year-old girl.

A Rochester, Minn. man has been charged with sex trafficking a 12-year-old girl, and he allegedly raped her, all while setting her up in motels with johns through Craigslist.

Lee A. Paul, 34, who admitted to acting as a "pimp," was inducted in federal court in Minneapolis on Tuesday for the incidents dating back to 2013.

On May 27, 2013, a 16-year-old girl was located by police in a Maple Grove hotel, and a 12-year-old was found at a residence in Alexandria with Paul.

According to the criminal complaint, two days earlier, the 12-year-old got a text message inviting her to a party and told her and other girls someone would pick them up from a McDonald's in Rochester.

Paul took the 12-year-old and a 16-year-old girl to the Starlite Motel in Columbia Heights and told them he'd leave them in Minneapolis if they didn't follow his orders. He forced the 16-year-old into oral sex in the parking lot and raped the 12-year-old girl in the room.

The next morning, Paul "moved the group" to the Select Inn in Maple Grove, the complaint said. Someone then took the 12-year-old to Alexandria, where she was forced to have sex with two people from Craigslist. The 16-year-old called police but Paul wasn't there by the time police arrived. Police found him and the 12-year-old in Alexandria two days later, where he was arrested.

Paul fled after charges were filed against him in Anoka and Olmsted counties, and he was ultimately arrested in Georgia in January.
