How to help St. Paul family who lost 4-year-old in fire

What do you say to a tearful father who lost his 4-year-old daughter in a fire? There are no words.

A heartbreaking but sweet memory; 4-year-old Chialia Yang was captured on video playing with her little sister just one hour before a horrible Sunday night fire in St. Paul took her life.

More: 'I just feel so guilty'

Peter Yang, Chialia's father, rescued 6 of his family members from 595 Jessamine Avenue East, but couldn't find little Chialia. St. Paul firefighters were able to rescue her, but she had suffered serious smoke inhalation and later died at the hospital. If anything good can come from something so horrible, it's this.

The tremendous love and support of a community that cares, a You Caring page has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the family. Yang's oldest son said his family is incredibly grateful.

"She was born two days after my daughter was born and they were best friends and with the community coming in it really helps us a lot," Tong Yang said.

Peter Yang's grandchildren are watching over the boxes and bags that come in, mostly from neighbors happy to help out a family they don't even know.

And there's even more...another room..another table ready to help the yang's piece back together a home for their family...this one at the merrickcommunityy center..put together by a woman who says she just had to help.

"Just an overwhelming emotion being a single mother of four girls, knowing what I struggle with and the losses they had, I just had this overwhelming need," said Heather Guggisberg, who is organizing donations.

The Yang family doesn't know where they'll put the toys, the clothes and other new items yet. The pain of losing a little girl that brought so much joy to the entire family is still just too raw to think that far ahead.

"My father, especially my father, he can't even see pictures of my sister he breaks down as soon as her name's mentioned around him or he hears her names mentioned," Tong Yang said.
