Tech conference features incredible, helpful tools for disabled

Technology for the elderly and disabled brought some to tears in St. Paul on Thursday.

When you go to a tech fair, you don't typically expect tears.

Evey Calderon couldn't help it as she first laid eyes on something called the Rewalk alongside her daughter, Tammy Juntilla.

Juntilla, a nurse, attended the Leading Age Conference at the St. Paul Rivercentre, an annual event for caregivers of elderly and disabled. She made a beeline for the small display of technology. Juntilla's step-daughter is a paraplegic, and the Rewalk could be her answer. It's a robotic exoskeleton approved by the FDA last summer. It costs about $71,000.
