1 driver killed in south Minneapolis collision

A driver was killed after apparently running a red light and colliding with another car in south Minneapolis on Thursday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., Minneapolis police said a car heading northbound on 2nd Avenue S. appeared to have run a red light and collided with a car heading west on 35th Street.

The car that ran the red light flipped and landed on its side. The driver, who was partially ejected, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, who was wearing a seat belt, crashed into a retaining wall and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Neither of the drivers' identities have been released.
