1 dead in Memorial Day triple shooting in Minneapolis

A 35-year-old Minneapolis man is dead following a triple shooting near the 2700 block of 3rd Street North on Memorial Day, police confirmed.

"It's just a bad thing, that's all I can say it's a bad and sad thing. It's my nephew, I love him all the way around the world and back again. That's the thing we used to say to each other all the time," said a woman who identifies herself only as the aunt of 35-year-old Larry Davis.

Minneapolis police were alerted to a fight in the area at 1:20 p.m., and as they were responding, they received a "person with a gun" call, as well as follow-up calls about an alleged shooting. Upon arrival, Davis was found dead in the street and another man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, who was brought by ambulance to North Memorial.

Shortly after that, a gunshot victim believed to be part of the 3rd Street North shooting was brought to Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries, though not by ambulance.

Homicide Investigators continue to actively pursue leads. This does not appear to be a random incident. Anyone with any information on this case is asked to send a text to 847 411 (tip 411), enter MPD and the tip or call the tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477). All texts are anonymous.
