1 dead in 2-vehicle dispute early Monday morning in Minneapolis

One man died and another was injured in an early Monday morning dispute involving two vehicles in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police said dispatch received 911 calls shortly after midnight reporting gunfire near 34th Avenue N. and Morgan Avenue N. Upon arrival, police found one man dead near the intersection. No arrests have been made at this time.

Investigation indicated two vehicles were disputing and pulled over at the intersection, some of the people got out of the vehicles and exchanged gunfire. The pair of vehicles was gone when officers arrived, but learned another shooting victim was taken to North Memorial in another vehicle with non-life threatening injuries, and police believe he is somehow related to the incident.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has secured charges against Nigeria Lee Harvey in the death of Omarr Deon Johnson that occurred on Monday morning in the area of 34th Avenue North and Morgan Avenue North.

Harvey was arrested by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team on July 28th.

The Minneapolis Police Department appreciates the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for their review and charging of this case.

Harvey is charged with Murder – 2nd Degree – With Intent – Not Premeditated, and Possess Pistol/Assault Weapon – Conviction or Adjudicated Delinquent for Crime of Violence.  Both Felonies.  Harvey remains in the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bail.
