1 dead, 1 injured in Brainerd shooting

A 31-year-old man has died and a 31-year-old woman was injured in a shooting Sunday night in Brainerd, Minn. Both suspects are in police custody, though no motive has been determined yet, but police say it was not a random act.

Joseph Kroll died after being shot in the head in the 800 block of Juniper Street. Chelsey Crawford is in stable condition and has undergone surgery for her injuries at a Twin Cities area hospital, Brainerd police confirmed.

Nathan David Becker was arrested after police found him in a cat at about 10 p.m. Sunday, outside the SuperAmerica gas station at 1223 South 6th Street in Brainerd.

At about 11 p.m., police also arrested Tyler Allan Cronquist. Cronquist turned himself in at the Brainerd Police Department. Both were arrested without incident. Becker and Cronquist remain in the Crow Wing County jail awaiting formal charges while this matter is under review by the Crow Wing County Attorney.
